"Somehow I can't believe there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secret of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four C's. They are Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, and Constancy and the greatest of these is Confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably." ~Walt Disney

End Of The World

End Of the World
The Mayan Calender
Time...just hearing the word makes your mind wonder. Whether it's an old song or it's a certain calender we've all heard about..."The end is coming!!! Save yourselves!!!!!" How many times have you heard something along those lines? People have been saying this stuff for years. Disney's Hercules proves this. Towards the beginning of the movie Phil (the goat man) takes Hercules around Thebes (The New York City of Greece..."The Big Olive") When he does this they ran into a crazy guy wearing nothing but a hollow column and he is running around screaming "The end is coming!" People have always been saying this. But it seems to be a lot more lately.
Many years ago the Mayans made a calender. This calender was very specific and full of events. Most of these events have happened and on the correct date. For example, the Mayans predicted both Hurricane Katrina and the 9/11 attack. However, they also predicted something else. This is what is supposed to happen. On 12/22/12...the end of the world. Now, I've been silently watching and listening to the people around me and I have heard many different things. Everything from "It's real. All the others came true so this must too!" to "The Mayans just got tired of doing it, so they ended the calender there." I personally find it sad that I have never heard the point that The Bible says that NO man knows when Christ will retuern. Only Heavenly Father knows. So, if this were the case, how could teh Mayans knows the "end" is going to be on 12/22/12???

What Happens Now?

What happens when one of your closest friends sense 6Th grade dies?

What do you say? How do you talk to his 13 year old sister when she messages you?

Do you try to make her laugh like usual or do you keep saying your sorry?

And what happens when your not talking to her?

You spend every moment moving, doing something to keep your mind off of what just happened. You don't want to hear this word "reality". What is that? That's just a heartbreak waiting to happen. So you work. You hang out with friends. You go out to eat with your mom and pray there's a cute waiter to distract you. (yes..there was. his name was Robb or something. I forgot...he was married. ha!) You do everything possibly imaginable until there's nothing to do and your absolutely drained. You cant cry anymore. It feels physically impossible. And you know that when you do, your probably going to throw up because your stomach cant take it any longer. You feel both physically and emotionally drained. The next thing you know your writing a blog so you can pass your history class but all you can think about is him. What do you write about? How bout his history and how you knew him. So here's the story of a girl and Chewy. And oddly enough, this does have to do with Dr. Ruffs World Civ. I class...

Let's think back to eight years ago shall we...2003. I just finished elementary school! I'm not a child anymore! I was 11 years old and in 6TH grade!!! It was time for my own independence! So i walk into my first chorus class ever and I didn't know a soul. As time went by i began to loosen up (a little) I met these three guys. Charles, Nick, and Josh. Now Charles was a different guy.
D-O-R-K I loved this kid!!!crazy as crap! anyways. Nick. he was...well he was cute. and a voice of gold. Then there was Josh. He was kinda big and very hairy. Hes face was always oober red. He was quiet. Just looked at me most of the time. But as time went on and I talked to Charles and Nick more Josh began talking more too. By the end of the year, quiet Josh was crazy Josh who was just as nuts as the rest of the guys. We were all pretty awesome friends. I was the only girl in the "group" and I personally loved that! I was one of the guys! All through middle school I stayed with these guys. I was eventually introduced to a boy named Ryan. This kid, he was.. well crazy doesn't cut it. he was VERY hyper. haha! Ill never forget lunch time in 8Th grade. We all got to eat lunch together. Well...all of us but Ryan. My dear Ryan got to eat lunch two tables over with a girl he really REALLY didn't like. haha He would spend everyday crawling under his table to try to get over to ours. Of course everyday he'd get in trouble. haha There was one time in middle school when Charles, Josh and I tried to see if Ryan would fit in his locker with the door closed....he did. but guess what....he forgot his own combination and we had to get the janitor to come break it open.. hahaha Ryan always got in trouble. As we all grew into high school if something went wrong Ryan Beach was blamed. Ha!
In high school there are so many crazy memories. The guys dropped out of chorus and moved into auto tech class. I hung out with them in there all the time. In fact Id skip my chorus class just to go see Charles, Josh, and Ryan. When we got to our junior year in high school we found out something that would change our friendship forever. Charles began doing drugs. He was addicted before we even really knew anything. Next thing I know Josh had done told him goodbye. I don't know what he said to Charlie exactly but Charles never talked to me anymore after that. I recently got to talk with Charles cause of the death of my dear friend Chewy. Charles said that Josh gave him a choice. It was either us or the drugs. Charles chose the drugs and Josh went off. Josh apparently told Charles to "Stay the heck away from us, especially Melissa." He said that Josh didn't want me to get hurt. Josh always protected me no matter what happened.

Throughout high school our little group of four turned into a group of about 20. We were the crazy kids who always got in trouble(imagine that) The ones who wore camo and thought they were really cool but they really were that awesome. HA! I loved my friends so much! As time went on in high school our group split. People began to hate other people, couples began to back stab other couples, girls began to distract ALL of the guys...but me. It was just sad. By the time Josh and I graduated the group was just a bunch of people who knew each other. I figured that it would stay that way until our ten year reunion when everybody came back and started trying to impress each other with their nifty jobs or semi-hot wives. But something happen this week to make that change. Our group came together again and for the first time in 3 years we were all like a big deformed family. Our dear friend Josh Gorski died. Yes the one who always put up for me even when I was a chunky little twelve year old. The wonderful guy who I went to prom with. I didn't get the chance to be his date but Ryan and I did go with him. haha! He was a very wonderful friend and even better brother. I love him so much and its so hard to say goodbye but I know that I have to do it. I know well all see him agian someday. My church teaches that. "Our physical death isn't the end, but rather a step forward in Heavenly Father's plan."

I love my friend very much and when I see him again Ill be so happy. We are going to have some awesome times together!!! This isn't the end.

Dedecated to
Joshua Russell Gorski

Who Knows?

Who Knows?

"If I don't know I know, I think I don't know. If I don't know I don't know, I think I know."

Confusing right? Or is it? I think I know what is means...Or do I? Soooo who knows ya knows??

Sitting in history class today reading the beginning of Chapter 2 in my book...(ok so maaayyyybee I didn't read the chapters like Dr. Ruff said........oops. ) Anyways! I'm reading my book and in the second paragraph I read some things about some dude named Gilgamesh. First of all....Gilgamesh? Really? Sounds like something you can eat at The Ivy. But back to the real story...So I was reading and by the description someone would wonder if he were real and if he were, how could anybody be like him today?

In the book Traditions & Encounters it describes Gilgamesh as having "super human strength and courage". I bet that when a person reads that they think about like..Superman. "What's that!? In the sky!? It's a bird! It's a plane! NO, it's GILGAMESH!" That's so what the people of ancient Mesopotamia were yelling...However, I don't think that was the case. I think that my friend Gilgamesh here was like Superman yes. But not the bullet proof version we're all thinking of. Instead the regular guy Clark Kent version. I mean come on! Who says you have to be able to lift a car with one finger to have superhuman strength? I believe that strength is from within and is given to us by Heavenly Father. I think that every being, young or old, rich or poor, can have this superhuman strength and courage. In Joshua 1:9 in the Bible says "Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." Don't you think that even though we can't stop a bullet with our eyeball or catch a woman falling from a building (cause those things happen all the time) that we can have superhuman strength? It just depends on the kind of strength. Heavenly Father can give us strength beyond our wildest dreams if we simply have faith in Him.

The book says that Gilgamesh "saw mysteries and knew secret things". How could a person be like that today? Honestly, how can a person actually know secret things without trying to take your money? Well, in 3 Nephi 18:20 of the Book of Mormon it says "And whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is right, believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be given unto you." This shows that if you pray and have faith that you will get an answer the Lord can help you to know anything that you need to know. If you listen to the Spirit you can get through any trial and work your way through any maze the world has to offer. Maybe that's how Gilgamesh "saw mysteries". He just prayed and asked Heavenly Father for the truth.

Women vs. Men

"When you look at something you don't see everything."

~ Dr. Ruff

In class today Dr. Ruff said that a long time ago before the agriculture revolution women were expected to survive better than men and that they probably even came up with the idea of farming. Well...I have one thing to say about that......DANG STRAIGHT! With out us men would be absolutley nothing. Women are the ones with teh brains! I find is rather sad that in today's society men are the dominate roles when we women have to kiss their sad little booboos. Let's just face it, all men are babies. If one gets sick the others start "feeling bad" too. They get one little sniffle and its "Oh baby, Austin gave me that dad gum flu! Make me a sandwich will ya!?.....Oh and I'll take beef stew for dinner I think that'll help...don't be stingy with the beef." HA! All men are babies...

However, even though all this is true, I personally believe that both sexes are equal. I know that I wouldn't be who I am without that certain someone to help me open my pickle jar when I do make him a sandwich. Therefore, that shows that women do need men in their lives. Think of all the poor unopened jars and sad little broke down cars on the side of the road. That would be a sad life, but the mechanics would make even better money then they do now! Haha!

According to M. Russell Ballard of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints "The gospel of Jesus Christ can sanctify both men and women in the same way and by identical principles. For example, faith, repentance, baptism, and the gift of the Holy Ghost are requirements for all of God's children, regardless of gender. The same is true of temple covenants and blessings. Our Father's work and glory is to brong to pass the immortality and eternal life of His children (Moses 1:39 Pearl of Great Price). He loves us all equally, and His greatest gift, the gift of eternal life, is available to all." This proves that men and women are equal and are capable of acquiring something so wonderful that a person can't even describe the way it makes them feel. Both genders can accomplish this amazing thing if they simply believe. If that isn't equality; I'm not sure what is.
